We know you have a lot of questions and aren't sure where to find the answers. We have collected a list of questions we are often asked and created this section to help you. If you are still not able to find an answer, please reach out to your counselor! We are here to help you.

How do I make an appointment with my counselor?

Complete this form to request an appointment with your counselor.

Please allow 5 school days for your counselor to reach out to you. If you need to meet with your counselor quickly, please reach out by email as well.

Appointments are for non-emergencies only! A student in crisis should speak with an adult immediately.

Who is my counselor?

Our Counseling Caseloads depend on grade level and if the student is apart of the CITA program.

If you are still unsure of who your counselor is then you can reach out to any counselor. They can connect you with the correct school counselor!

How do I request my transcript to be sent?

Current students, you can request for your transcript to be sent through MyPaymentsPlus.com when paying $2. Please note colleges must be listed in Naviance for your counselor to send your transcript to the colleges you have applied to.

Students from the Class of 2023 or earlier can request their diplomas and transcripts from the Cobb County School District Records Department.

How do I request a letter of recommendation?

Students who need letters of recommendation should speak with their school counselor. 

 

Please give your counselor two weeks to write your letter of recommendation. You should provide a resume or answer questions your school counselor has.

How do I apply for the HOPE Scholarship?

Students must complete the FAFSA to qualify for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship. The FAFSA is typically available for students to complete after October 1 of their senior year. The 2024-2025 FAFSA is an exception and will be released in December 2023.

What is the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that can be completed by students to qualify for federal and state aid. Students must complete the FAFSA to qualify for the Pell Grant, the HOPE Scholarship, and the Zell Miller Scholarship.

Do I need two World Language classes to graduate high school?

Students do not need to take two World Language classes to graduate high school; however, students must take two consecutive World Language classes (e.g. Spanish I & II, French I & II, etc) to attend a four-year or two-year college. 

How do I get promoted to the next grade level?

Students must meet certain credit requirements to be promoted to the next grade level.

The School Counseling Department is not responsible for Senior Dues or the cap and gown.

What do I need to graduate high school?

Students must meet credit requirements to graduate from high school. To earn a credit, students must earn a grade of 70 or higher in their classes.

What is Dual Enrollment?

Dual Enrollment is a state-funded program that allows for high school students to take college classes. Students will earn both high school and college credit for taking these classes. 

​

For more information on Dual Enrollment, students are encouraged to make an appointment with Mrs. Carr.

I am a student with DACA status/without documentation.

Can I go to College?

ALL students can go to college!

 

DREAMers do have access to a higher education. While there are some roadblocks, the Osborne Counselors want to provide as much support as possible.
